I started my career in downtown Chicago at the ripe age of 20, where I learned the foundations of this industry and the artistry of hair at Vidal Sassoon. That education shaped how I see hair to this day. Technique matters. Intention matters. Understanding why something works matters.

In Chicago, I specialized in men’s hair and precision haircuts for several years. That path eventually led me to Los Angeles, where I went to grow, restart, and fully immerse myself in the craft. It was there that I leaned into color, loosened the rigidity of classical training, and learned a different art of hair. LA is also where my curiosity into scalp care began.

LA was a huge chapter for me. I learned a lot, met incredible people, and most importantly, I met my husband. We started our family there, and not long after, we realized city life was not where we wanted to raise our family. We moved to San Antonio seven years ago, and it has been nothing less than amazing.

Today, I work independently out of my own suite. Although I have extensive experience in hair, my curiosity has never stopped there. Over the years, I have done deep research into hair loss, scalp care, and overall health as it relates to your skin, scalp, hair, and body. I look at hair from a different perspective. I want to know why things work so I can better understand how to use our skills, knowledge, and tools more effectively.

That obsession with the why is what drove me to start this website. I have accumulated a massive amount of knowledge with my time behind the chair, and I needed a place to put it. A place where it could actually help people.

House of Haiiriika is where I share unfiltered opinions, real advice, and a different way of understanding scalp care, hair care, and hair science. It is a little nerdy. But sometimes it takes a deeper understanding to truly know why things happen and how to fix them.

This is a space for honest hair education, real advice, and unfiltered opinions from someone who has been behind the chair for over two decades. It’s just me explaining things, showing things, advising things, and giving my honest opinion. Full disclosure, I might cuss a little. House of Haiiriika exists because hair is confusing, the internet is loud, and a lot of advice out there is either outdated, gatekept, or straight up lies.

Here, I do things differently.

This space is for people who want to understand their hair, not fight it. For people who are tired of being told they are doing everything wrong. For people who want education, not judgment. And if you enjoy a little attitude with your advice, you are definitely in the right place.
